"Education is about inspiring one's mind, not just filling their heads" Suli Breaks

Education is about inspiring one's mind, not just filling their heads"

I'm completely agree with that sentence. In my life as a student I don't even remember half of what "I learned". So, was it useful? Is useful to stress the students with a big amount of homework that possibly they wouldn't use in their lifes? How can we change it?

I've been thinking for a while and I don't find any solution, possibly because I have been educated as a machine that accomplish orders since I was little, killing my imagination  and filling my head with rules instead of deduce it for myself observing.

Hence a possibly solution is strengthen the mental capacities as the creativity and the imagination of the kids during their student life and change the method of pedagogy, starting teaching the future teachers how to teach strengthen what I said before.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible because it doesn't interest to the governments because a smarter population mean that they will pay more attention in the government actions. Besides, there isn't enough money for public education, so it's a shame.

My research paper

Keywords: Newton’s laws, classical mechanics, action scenes, films
Abstract
Are films RELATED with science? Are the actions scenes possible in real life? Obviously, not all of them. But with this project what I wanted to do was TO disclosed which scenes are impossible, analyzing scenes and using physical methods to work out.  This research project it is focused ON physical mistakes in the cinema, analyzing and calculating how it would be in real life and comparing some of them with real phenomenons. It includes the theoretical explanation of all the physical concepts used

oral presentation

This second term  my oral presentation was about my research project (Film mistakes related to physics). The presentation went well, but I did some simple mistakes in the pronunciation as "scene". Even then, the presentation went better than I expected because that day my alarm clock didn't ring and I woke up ten minutes before the presentation started. Possibly it was improbable, but now I can't do anything

Mystery 'Alien' Spots On Ceres Could Be Caused By Salt New Study Shows

NASA have finally discovered what was the shiny spots that has Ceres (largest body in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter), and if it was for an alien cause

A new study published in the Nature magazine suggests that the most probable is that this shiny spots contains hydrated magnesium sulphates, formed by magnesium, sulphur and oxygen.

These spots had had an unknown origin for long time. In addition, this research suggests that Ceres has an outer shell and an inner core.  The study also says that there’s a bright pit in the crater Occator that could be a sublimation of water ice.

This news are a little disappointing for the alien fans because it rejects the possibility that the aliens are the originators of these spot lights

British Museum remains UK's most popular tourist attraction

London’s British Museum was still the UK’s most popular attraction in 2015, with more than 8.9 million visitors. London’s attractions has increased their visits a 1.6 per cent.

The National Gallery (5.9 million) and the Natural History Museum close the top 3 of the UK’s most popular attractions. (Both are in London)

London's British Museum remained the UK's most popular attraction with 6.8 million visitors last year

But the most popular attraction outside London was the Library of Birmingham, with 1.8 million visits, and the Edinburgh Castle took the overall top in Scotland, with 1.8 million visitors, and it’s in the 18th place in UK. The most popular in Northern Island was Giant’s Causeway, where it was filmed the series Game of Thrones, and the most popular in Wales was Penrhyn Castle.

The decreasing of the pound is making the UK a more affordable destination, and it could increase the number of visitors.

I suppose this isn't bad news for the UK people (I don't know, I’m not doing economy) because it mean that it has been an increasing of tourist and an increasing of money. I consider evident that the British Museum is the most popular attraction in the UK because it has the most exhibition of historical civilisations, for example, the Egyptians, with some mommies, and part of the Greek Parthenon.

North Korea threatens 'pre-emptive nuclear strike of justice' as U.S. and South Korean troops begin their largest ever military drills on the peninsula

South Korean and U.S. troops began their largest annual military defensive exercises to prevent an invasion of North Korea. This exercise would be the largest because of the nuclear test of North Korea

Kim Jong-Un had replied threating South Korea and U.S. with a nuclear attack if the exercises go on, although South Korea’s Defense Ministry hasn’t seen any unusual military activity.

But North Korea's National Defense Commission said the North Korean army and people would satisfy the greatest desire of the Korean nation through a sacred war of justice for reunification in response to any attack to them

Besides this, China is opposed to any trouble in the Korean peninsula and invites them to keep calm and don’t increase the tensions.

In my opinion it's difficult to say something about this because IT'S a controversial topic. We have to keep calm as much time as we can and, when it's inevitable, try to beat North Korea as quick as possible. It's paradoxical that to beat a violent and repressive nation to establish peace we have to use the violence, isn't it? A world without wars is A utopia but, we have to avoid as much wars as we can, to prevent the injustice

Visit to the udg

The last 19th of February we visited th UdG (Universitat de Girona). We did moreless the same things than the UAB, but we were more interested in the talks because there were talks about some specific engineerings.

At ten o'clock I went to a talk about electronic engineering. It was very interesting, more useful that I expected. We were told about the subjects, the possible jobs that you could apply for, and how it works. After the talk we visited some laboratories of the UdG.

When we went to the second talk, it was full so, we went to the bar because we were tired and we weren't interested in other talks. It was a useful day.

Charlie in the Chocolate Factory

When we were in London, we saw a musical for 26 pounds. It was Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. I had seen before so, I wanted to go to that musical because I knew the story and I could unterstand better the plot.

I used to see theatral plays with little scenery objects so, I was astonished when I saw it. I enjoyed a lot that musical, the movement of the scenery, how that little boys and girls sang... AMAZING!
And only for 26 pounds. The only inconvenient was that we were in the back of the theatre and we couldn't see it as well as if we were nearer to the stage. Apart of this, it was wonderful!

Niptuck dialogue

A self-conscious girl exposes to her friends about her interest on undergoing plastic surgery.

Girl: Guys, lately I’ve been thinking about maybe doing something, but I’d like to hear what you have to say about it before trying anything.
Boy 1: Sure
Boy 2: Okay
Girl: Well, I’m sure you have noticed that I’ve developed a bit of self-consciousness about my breast size, so I began to consider the option of getting a boob job done about a week ago. Bigger breasts are always better, right?
Boy 1: Your tits are fine, come on. Also, that is going to be very expensive, isn’t it?
Boy 2: If it is really necessary for you, go get it. But I personally like you just the way you are.
Boy 1: I agree.
Girl: I appreciate your support but I think that it will improve the way I feel about myself, so I’ll probably do it.

Girl 2 enters the conversation.

Girl 2: Hii! What’s up with the long faces?
Girl 1: I’m seriously considering aesthetic surgery.
Girl 2: Well it was about time, wasn’t it? I mean, a nose job will make you way prettier than you are now with that huge nose. I’m glad you realized.

Pets

Nowadays a lot of people have pets. Some of them have pets because they are useful for them, and other people because for pleasure. But, it is justifiable snatch the freedom of some animals for pleasure?

Depends on the case and the animal. For example, a shepherd needs a dog to guide the flock of sheeps. In this case it is justifiable because the dog has a purpose.

However, lots of people have pets as an entertainment. Regarding to some animals as cats and dogs, I don't have arguments against it, because they're animals that can adapt easily to a human environment and they used to go its own way, but I'm not saying that we mustn't have to take care of them.

The exotic animals are another case. With them there's no justification, because their characteristics aren't adapted to another climate, and as a consequence of that, they suffer a lot because of the climate and their new life in captivity.

In conclusion, it's not ethic have pets that we don't take care of them and have exotic animals, because they suffer a lot.

2nd term

I'm gonna talk about this second term because I'm looking for some topic to talk and, reviewing my blog I found an entry about the first term so, I will continue this topic with a 2nd term review and 3rd term review.

This second term has been as strange as the first, even more, possibly not in a good way. On the one hand, I improved my English and Spanish marks, that were too low.  But on the other hand I got worse in some subjects that went well the first term, as physics and maths. I don't know my marks yet, I have to wait two or three weeks, but I can say that, in general, I get worse for some reasons.

One of them is that I haven't organized well, doing all my schoolwork quickly in the last time, and the quality wasn't the same. Another reason is that I was distracted very easyly, and I trusted too much in my ability to study but, with schoolwork, it doesn't work.

So my objectives for the third term are to work harder, organize better my time and improve my average, if its possible, trying to reach a 8.5, but it's difficult.

visit to the UAB

The last 4th of February we visited the UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). We caught a bus at 7:45 am, and we arrived there at 9:30 am. I went with some friends to a talk about different engineerings. It was so boring because they didn't explain us about the engineerings, as the subjects, but they talked about how was the university (accidentally, we went a talk about a private university because it was the only talk about ingeneerings) .

As a consequence of that, we were disappointed, so we went to the bar for the next two hours. We only wanted to go to that talk and it was publicity. Plus, I have to say that none of my friends, including me, were interested in study in the UAB.

Trip to london

1. How to get to Picadilly Square. What can you visit near our hotel? (20 minutes on foot)
We can go Picadilly Square by bus or on foot. On foot is one hour and five minutes crossing Hyde Park. By bus is faster, catching de 94 line we can be there in 35 minutes.

Near of our hotel we have some interesting places to visit. We can visit Kensington Park and Hyde Park, and the Science museum. Both of them are very important in London so, I hope we will visit them.

2. Look for 3 must-see landmarks in London you definitely would like to visit.
Write 50 words about each landmark and how to get there from our hostel by bus and tube.

Hyde Park is one of the most popular  and one of the largest parks  in London. It's known as the speaker's corner because on Sundays it's allowed to make a speech if it respects the law. We can get there walking because it's quite near to the hostel

Natural History Museum. Is one of the most important museums in the world. It has a collection of more than 70 million of specimen, especially in zoology and botany. We can get there walking 5 minutes to a bus stop and getting the line 70.

Buckingham Palace. The Buckingham palace it's the oficial residence of the queen. It's one of the most beautiful palace of England and of the world. It was built in 1703 for a duke, but in 1762 was bought by the king George III. We can get there catching the bus line 9 and walking 7 minutes

3. The musical. Browse the theatre plays available in London at the time of our visit. Choose two shows you would like to see, state why and their cheapest ticket prices on Saturday night.

Charlie and the chocolate Factory: I want to see that musical because I saw the film when I was little, and it's an interesting story. It's also the cheapest one.

The Lion King. It's a classic musical that I haven't seen yet. I saw the film and I don't know if they are similar. It's quite expensive, so possibly we won't see it.

Can technology make a better world?

The world has changed a lot in the last years because of a technological impact, which has changed our way to life. Has it changed in a good way? Can technology make a better world?

These questions have opened big discussions. In fact, the technology has created the majority of our problmes, as the climate change, that we have to solve with more technology. So, What is the main purpose of the technology?

To answer this question we can search in the course of the history what was their utility. The prehistorics used the technology to improve their life quality. So this is its main purpose. Technology simplifies our life and helps us make it better, improving our life quality, for example creating a heating circuit to make us feel more comfortable during the winter, and giving us the oportunity to live more years.

In conclusion, the technology can make a better world, solving problems that it created and simplifying our life. There should not be any limits such as experimenting with humans because it can delay the discovery of an important thing, for example, the cure of the cancer or something similar.
