Final reflection

I can't compare my first written post and my last composition because I removed accidentally my posts of 4th ESO, so I have to compared with my posts of 1st BAT.

My first posts are written with the simplest grammar possible, like compostions of a five-year-old boy, without a lot of mistakes, but very simple. My last composition is not very different as my first post, but it is written with a more maturity of ideas, more vocabulary and more complicated sentences. The structure is more clear and I use more connectors.

Comparing my first oral presentation with the last one, it is easy to see that my pronunciation has improved and my nervousness has dicreased, so I do my oral presentations more relaxed and more prepared. In the beginning, most of my oral presentations were corrected by my classmates to make it better, not mistakes but include more vocabulary and more accurate but the recents oral presentation didn't need that corrections

I think my best oral production is my last oral presentation  because I worked more on it, mostly on the vocabulary. It was about my research project, so the vocabulary were very accurate. During that presentation I was half-sleep and I didn't remember the text, so I improvised a lot and it  wasn't perceived because I spoke quite fluent

Regarding to my best written production, I don't know which is the best, but it is possibly my post about "Can technology make a better world?". I worked a lot on this composition, especially in the vocabulary and in the ideas, writing it in an orderly way. This is from the second term, and possibly when I worked harder in English, and it's reflected on the compositions, tasks, etc.

Description of a person

My name is Oriol, I'm 18 years old and I'm going to make a description of myself.

Physically, I'm tall and thin, fortunately, not as thin as three years ago. I weight 68 kg and I'm 1,86 m height. So, I'm similar to a stick. I have neither tattos nor piercings. My arms and my legs are very long and thin too.

Psychologically, I have a lot of imagination, sometimes too much, and I'm very indecisive, even when I was trying to choose the topic of this composition. Alslo I don't bear the lack of punctuality. I usually have a smile on my face, because I'm a very positive person, but wen I'm angry I'm very destructive, because I act without thinking of the consequences. Fortunately, it doens't usually happen.

In few words, this is me. Of course, I'm not as I described, I'm more complicated.

a human right

1. What are human rights?
Human rights are a set of rules to protect human integrity, and are valid for all the humans
2. When and why were they created?
They were created as we know them nowadays in the 1948 by the United Nations to prevent another world conflict/war that could devastate entire cities, as the second world war, and protect the right to live in a peaceful environment
3. How many human rights are there?
There are 30 human rights

4. Which human right were you not familiar with?
Article 7: Legal equality
“All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.”

This human right is protected by every constitution, but it’s not always obeyed. Sometimes, the influence of the government or the capital of somebody affects to the trial or the judge. And it happens in almost all the countries. So, it is violated frequently.

This human right represents equality, the rich and the poor are equal, no matter neither your capital nor your origen nor your job. And it is disappointing that this right is violated in countries that promotes this equality.

Watch the video of the right you chose.  Make a list of new words you hear, if any. Think of an example where this human right is respected and where it is violated.

This human right (Legal Equality), is violated in almost every dictatorship, for example, North Korea, and it is “respected” theoretically in every democracy, for example, the UK

"Education is about inspiring one's mind, not just filling their heads" Suli Breaks

Education is about inspiring one's mind, not just filling their heads"

I'm completely agree with that sentence. In my life as a student I don't even remember half of what "I learned". So, was it useful? Is useful to stress the students with a big amount of homework that possibly they wouldn't use in their lifes? How can we change it?

I've been thinking for a while and I don't find any solution, possibly because I have been educated as a machine that accomplish orders since I was little, killing my imagination  and filling my head with rules instead of deduce it for myself observing.

Hence a possibly solution is strengthen the mental capacities as the creativity and the imagination of the kids during their student life and change the method of pedagogy, starting teaching the future teachers how to teach strengthen what I said before.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible because it doesn't interest to the governments because a smarter population mean that they will pay more attention in the government actions. Besides, there isn't enough money for public education, so it's a shame.

Niptuck dialogue

A self-conscious girl exposes to her friends about her interest on undergoing plastic surgery.

Girl: Guys, lately I’ve been thinking about maybe doing something, but I’d like to hear what you have to say about it before trying anything.
Boy 1: Sure
Boy 2: Okay
Girl: Well, I’m sure you have noticed that I’ve developed a bit of self-consciousness about my breast size, so I began to consider the option of getting a boob job done about a week ago. Bigger breasts are always better, right?
Boy 1: Your tits are fine, come on. Also, that is going to be very expensive, isn’t it?
Boy 2: If it is really necessary for you, go get it. But I personally like you just the way you are.
Boy 1: I agree.
Girl: I appreciate your support but I think that it will improve the way I feel about myself, so I’ll probably do it.

Girl 2 enters the conversation.

Girl 2: Hii! What’s up with the long faces?
Girl 1: I’m seriously considering aesthetic surgery.
Girl 2: Well it was about time, wasn’t it? I mean, a nose job will make you way prettier than you are now with that huge nose. I’m glad you realized.

Trip to london

1. How to get to Picadilly Square. What can you visit near our hotel? (20 minutes on foot)
We can go Picadilly Square by bus or on foot. On foot is one hour and five minutes crossing Hyde Park. By bus is faster, catching de 94 line we can be there in 35 minutes.

Near of our hotel we have some interesting places to visit. We can visit Kensington Park and Hyde Park, and the Science museum. Both of them are very important in London so, I hope we will visit them.

2. Look for 3 must-see landmarks in London you definitely would like to visit.
Write 50 words about each landmark and how to get there from our hostel by bus and tube.

Hyde Park is one of the most popular  and one of the largest parks  in London. It's known as the speaker's corner because on Sundays it's allowed to make a speech if it respects the law. We can get there walking because it's quite near to the hostel

Natural History Museum. Is one of the most important museums in the world. It has a collection of more than 70 million of specimen, especially in zoology and botany. We can get there walking 5 minutes to a bus stop and getting the line 70.

Buckingham Palace. The Buckingham palace it's the oficial residence of the queen. It's one of the most beautiful palace of England and of the world. It was built in 1703 for a duke, but in 1762 was bought by the king George III. We can get there catching the bus line 9 and walking 7 minutes

3. The musical. Browse the theatre plays available in London at the time of our visit. Choose two shows you would like to see, state why and their cheapest ticket prices on Saturday night.

Charlie and the chocolate Factory: I want to see that musical because I saw the film when I was little, and it's an interesting story. It's also the cheapest one.

The Lion King. It's a classic musical that I haven't seen yet. I saw the film and I don't know if they are similar. It's quite expensive, so possibly we won't see it.

Can technology make a better world?

The world has changed a lot in the last years because of a technological impact, which has changed our way to life. Has it changed in a good way? Can technology make a better world?

These questions have opened big discussions. In fact, the technology has created the majority of our problmes, as the climate change, that we have to solve with more technology. So, What is the main purpose of the technology?

To answer this question we can search in the course of the history what was their utility. The prehistorics used the technology to improve their life quality. So this is its main purpose. Technology simplifies our life and helps us make it better, improving our life quality, for example creating a heating circuit to make us feel more comfortable during the winter, and giving us the oportunity to live more years.

In conclusion, the technology can make a better world, solving problems that it created and simplifying our life. There should not be any limits such as experimenting with humans because it can delay the discovery of an important thing, for example, the cure of the cancer or something similar.

Is humour necessary?

Humour is essential in our lives, all types of humour, even dark humour. It's impossible to imagine a life without humour. So, why is it necessary?

It's important not to make the days monotonous. When you grow old and you try to remember the best days of your life you will remember the days that you had laughed a lot .

Humour also has a lot of benefits in our physical and mental health. Humour relaxes your muscles, eases anxiety and relieves stress.

A social benefit that humour has is that everybody prefers to be with somebody that makes you laugh than somebody too serious, because it seems that the time passes faster.

But some kind of humour can seem offensive. And it's difficult to put a limit to the humour because it depends on the person. In my point of view, the humour doesn't have limits, even if it's very offensive to somebody or something, because it's only humour, there's no intention to hurt somebody, only to make somebody laugh , and we have to respect it.

There's a hell and a heaven inside all of us

Everybody has a good and a dark side, it’s in our nature and it’s impossible to change it. These sides are very different from each other.

The evil side is a moment or a little period of time that you’re full of rage and you don’t think about the consequences of your actions, and it depends on the people. Oscar Wilde compared these two sides of the people with the heaven and the hell. In this story, this evil side appears when Dorian killed Basil.

The good side is shown in your routine and it’s what we want to show to the people to cause a good impression. This side appears in the story when Dorian is with Mr. Henry.

The duration of these sides depends on the person, specially on his temperament and his environment.

Oral Presentation

This is the oral presentation about atomic energy that we have done this 3rd term
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1Yic4pIUTbgbGdZaGhhTjBwaTA&authuser=0

task

At school the problem is not the security. I think the main problems are the law and the society.

With that case, the law needs a change. The parents are not the guilty for the crimes of their child. Sometimes, the child is well-educated and he has good parents, but he’s crazy. The under-18 people have to assume their actions and pay for it. They are overprotected and they could be arrested for big crimes.

In my opinion, we have to teach more values to the students, and try to form more well-educated and polite people. Nowadays there are a lot of impolite and bad temperament teenagers and it has to change.

In conclusion, the law needs a change to the under-18 people and in the school and high school we need to work more in values to get a better world.

sarunas jasikevicius

Sarunas Jasikevicius is an ex-professional basketball player, whose I admire for his bravery. Two years ago, he played the final match against the Real Madrid with a broken rib. Nowadays, he’s 39 years old and he is the assistant of the Zalguiris Kaunas.

He is a middle-age person, who is tall, thinin good shape and pale skin. He has greenish blue eyes, short straight dark hair and a hooked nose. He’s shaved and he hasn’t freckles.

Jasikevicius is a natural leader, with a very competitive character and with a lot of courage. He’s very responsible and he didn’t hide in the important moments, he has a level head, and he always decides the right action.
